Live in the Moment

Some people say the best things in life are free. I think they are right. Free things are good things. This is my baby. He was free. We traveled two hours to get him, and he has been a joy ever since. He’s smart and learned fast. He bonded quickly, and he’s a cautious little man. I like that about him. He’ll check you over and check you out for a bit, and then decide.

He learned to swim just this summer. It was so cute watching him as I moved out further into the water. He started out walking into the water, and soon realized his little paws couldn’t touch. I saw the light bulb go on in his eyes, and then a panic slowly start, but he was determined to reach me. I talked him out to me, and he did it! I was so proud of him. He had to trust in order to continue on. He darn near took me under when he got to me though. I had to place him back in the water and swim back with him, back to shore.

He loves to go on the boat, too. It is hilarious to watch him. He hops in and is ready to go. He loves to watch the wake. His nose wiggling back and forth, all the while his little face is getting the mist from the wake. He’s lovin’ life.

You can learn a lot from a dog, actually. They live in the moment. They don’t dwell on the traumas of life. They don’t seem to go over and over an event, and dissect it to death. They don’t get stuck, and then have to work on processing old baggage. Each day is a new day to them. They wake up, and are ready for whatever the day brings them.

Live in the moment.
